AL7 Roman oil lamp, the discus decorated with two palm leaves: SOLD

A Roman oil lamp, the discus decorated with two palm leaves, measuring 100 mm/3.8 ins from the handle to the tip of the wick projection. Most of the slip worn from the upper surface, otherwise complete and in good condition, c. 2nd Century A.D.

A Roman Red Ware oil lamp, the discus decorated with the Chi-Rho symbol with the border made up of pointed leaves. Lamp measures 140 mm/5.5 ins in length. Lamp is fired brick red, although the upper surface has weathered umber. Some minor wear to handle and spout, otherwise condition good, Tunisia, 5th Century A.D.
Chi-Rho are the first two letters of Christ's name in Greek and can also be read as an abbreviation for the Latin pax.

AL9 Romano-Egyptian oil lamp: £ 55

Circular Romano-Egyptian oil lamp with short round nozzle and the shoulder segmented by incised lines. Lamp measures 69 mm/2.7 in. in length. Some sooty deposit around the nozzle and minor wear to the body, otherwise condition good, c. 2nd - 4th Century A.D.

Romano-Egyptian 'cream ware' lamp, frog derivative type, ears of corn moulded in relief on shoulder. Lamp measures 82 mm/3.1 in. in length. An indistinct markers mark on base. Minor wear, but a good example of the type. From Egypt, 3rd - 4th Century A.D.

Romano-Egyptian 'cream ware' lamp, frog derivative wide-bodied type, ears of corn incised on shoulder. Lamp measures 88 mm/3.5 in. in length. Markers mark on base, condition good. From Egypt, 3rd - 4th Century A.D.

A Roman-Egyptian 'cream-ware' oil lamp, frog-derivative type, stylised ears of corn and frogs legs moulded in relief around the central filler hole. Lamp measures 70 mm/2.8 ins. in length. Minor wear and no makers mark but a nice example. From Egypt, 3rd - 4th Century A.D.
