ANE52 The upper part of a brown terracotta female votive figure from Mari, Syria, c. 2000 B.C. : £ 295 RESERVED

The upper part (torso and head) of a brown terracotta female votive figure, broken at the waist, measuring 2 ins./53 mm high. The figure wears a flat perforated headdress, elaborate ear-rings and collar and has circular perforated breasts. The facial features, with include large elongate eyes, are clearly defined. Although fragmentary, the torso and head are undamaged and this is a nice example of the type. From Mari (modern Tell Hariri), Syria, c. 2000 B.C. Mounted on a perspex block.

ANE53 A large Palestinian pottery bowl, Middle Bronze Age, c. 1800 - 1700 B.C. : £ 190 NEW!

A large Palestinian pottery bowl in gritty orange coarse ware, Megiddo type, measuring 68 mm/2.4 ins. high and 234 mm/9.2 ins. in diameter. A hairline rim crack and another rim crack rather messily consolidated with glue, but intact and in good condition, Middle Bronze Age, c. 1800 - 1700 B.C., from Jordan.

ANE54 A Persian bronze triangular arrowhead, c. 8th Century B.C. : £ 65 NEW!

A Persian tanged bronze triangular arrowhead with central rib, measuring 4.5 ins./115 mm in length. Arrowhead has a dark green patina and is a very nice example, c. 8th Century B.C.
Ex Trevor Cairns Collection. Mr. Trevor Cairns was Head of the History Department at Sunderland College of Education. He built up a collection of ancient bronze weapons in the 1960-1970's.

ANE55 The head of a Syrian terracotta figure, c. 3rd Millennium B.C. : £ 60 NEW!

The head of a Syrian terracotta figure, broken at the neck, measuring 1.2 ins./32 mm high. The face with circular perforated eyes, pierced ears and wearing a tall cylindrical cap, decorated with incised lines and prick marks. Some chips to the top of the cap, otherwise condition good, from the Tabqa-Euphrates area, Syria, last quarter of the 3rd Millennium B.C. Mounted on a perspex block.

A good-sized Palestinian pottery bowl in gritty fawn coarse ware, Megiddo type, with a circular pad base, measuring 67 mm/2.4 ins. high and 186 mm/7.3 ins. in diameter. Intact and in good condition, Middle Bronze Age (MBII), c. 1900 - 1600 B.C., from Jordan.

A Persian bronze tanged broad triangular arrowhead with central rib and two slight barbs, measuring 3.5 ins./88 mm in length. Arrowhead has a dark green patina, but one barb missing, otherwise condition good, c. 8th Century B.C.

ANE58 The head of a flat-backed terracotta figure of Astarte, from Trans-Jordan, c. 7th-6th Century B.C. : £ 55 NEW!

The head of a flat-backed terracotta figure of Astarte, broken at the neck, measuring 0.8 in./21 mm high. The face with clearly defined eye-brows and eyes and wearing a doubled stranded beaded necklace. Some minor overall surface wear, from Trans-Jordan, c. 7th-6th Century B.C. Mounted on a perspex block.

A small Palestinian single-handled narrow-necked juglet in plain buff ware, measuring 82 mm/3.2 ins. in height. Part of the rim and neck lost and the red slip worn, otherwise intact. From Southern Palestine, Early Bronze Age, c. 2300 - 2000 B.C.

A Persian bronze tanged leaf-shaped arrowhead measuring 2.5 ins./64 mm in length. Arrowhead has a dark green patina, the tip missing (perhaps 4 mm), but an inexpensive example, c. 8th Century B.C.
