An area sympathetically restored on one side using coloured plaster (area restored approximately 8 x 2.5 cm, 3 x 0.75 ins.), a few small edge chips and some iron staining but an impressively-sized implement.
Found at the Ridge Pit, near Romsey, Hampshire, in January 1994.

The tip missing with perhaps a quarter to one third of the original implement lost. Some iron staining and some small patches of cortex remaining, but originally a very fine example. An inexpensive artefact from a classic Palaeolithic site.BI6 A large Lower Palaeolithic flake tool from Bakers Hole, Northfleet, found in 1920 : £ 90 NEW! RESERVEDA large Lower Palaeolithic flake tool made from variegated brown flint, measuring 105 x120 mm/4 x 4.9 ins. A clear striking platform and bulb of percussion and extensive reworking around the edges, a small area of cortex remaining. Recovered from Bakers Hole, Ebbsfleet Valley, Northfleet in June 1920, Lower Acheulian Culture.Ex Peter Negus Collection.
An attractive tool from a well-known Palaeolithic site.BI7 A small Neolithic grey flint celt from Flat Hill, Crawhill, Sussex : SOLDA small Neolithic mottled grey flint celt with a gentle posterior taper and flaked surfaces overall, measuring 82 mm /3.2 ins. in length. Some iron staining and some edge chips towards the posterior, otherwise condition good. Found at Flat Hill, Crawhill, Sussex during the 1920’s, c. 3000 B.C.Ex Peter Negus Collection.
An attractive implement.BI8 A good-sized Neolithic polished stone axe from Withiel, Cornwall : £ 125 RESERVEDA good-sized Neolithic polished stone axe with a marked posterior taper, measuring 189 mm /7.4 ins. in length and 59 mm/2.3 ins. across the cutting edge. Some inoffensive surface scratches and some ancient chips, and one more recent chip, to the cutting edge, otherwise condition good. Found at Withiel, Cornwall, c. 2500 B.C.Ex Peter Negus Collection.
An inexpensive example with a good provenance.BI9 A rare and good-sized Neolithic macehead from Withiel, Cornwall : £ 320 NEW!A large Neolithic greenstone macehead measuring 135 x 105 mm /5.4 x 4.1 ins. with central hour-glass perforation. The surface weathered and a small hairline surface crack but sound. A good-sized attractive example, found at Withiel, Cornwall, c. 2500 B.C.Ex Peter Negus Collection.
