An Irish Neolithic polished stone axe, made from dark speckled porcellanite, with a marked symmetrical posterior taper, measuring 137 mm/5.5 ins. in length. Some old chips to the body and the cutting edge chipped. A Neolithic grey flint biface measuring 106 mm/4.2 ins. in length. Some cortex remaining on butt and with a white (glossy on one side) patina. Some iron staining but the implement complete and undamaged, found at Seaford, Sussex, c. 3rd - 4th Millennium B.C.

The loop lost through corrosion, the cutting edge chipped and the blade corroded as shown but an inexpensive provenanced example. A Middle Bronze Age unlooped palstave with a splayed blade, measuring 140 mm/5.5 ins. in length. Palstave has a waxy green patina, and some corrosion spots and marks on the blade, but overall an attractive example. Found by a metal detectorist at a detecting rally in Castle Headingham, Essex, in April 2006, c. 1500-1300 B.C.Reported to the local Finds Liaison Officer.BI24 A British Middle Bronze Age unlooped palstave, c. 1500-1300 B.C. : £ 240A good sized unlooped palstave, measuring 158 mm/6.1 ins. in length. Worn dark green patina, the flanges lost through corrosion on the side not shown, the blade corroded and some patches of green corrosion products, but an inexpensive, heavy example which shows its age. A British find, but provenance not known, Middle Bronze Age, c. 1500-1300 B.C.BI25 A fine large Neolithic leaf-shaped arrowhead found in East Anglia, c. 2000 B.C. : £ 85 RESERVEDA large Neolithic grey flint pointed leaf-shaped arrowhead, measuring 65 mm/2.2 ins. long. A fine symmetrical example and a nice example of the type. From East Anglia, c. 2000 B.C.BI26 A fine Neolithic leaf-shaped arrowhead from Derbyshire, c. 2500 B.C. : £ 48A fine Neolithic grey flint leaf-shaped arrowhead, measuring 35 mm/1.4 ins. in length, condition good. A very nice example, from Derbyshire, c. 2500 B.C.BI27 A group of Neolithic worked flints from Derbyshire : £ 45 the groupA group of four Neolithic worked flints, including two broken bifacially flaked blades, one very finely worked, what appears to be an unfinished flint arrowhead and the lower part of a quartzite arrowhead with a bifurcated tang. The fragments measure from 34-57 mm/1.3-2.2 ins. in length. Reputedly found during field walking in Derbyshire, but the bifurcated tanged arrowhead possibly of North American origin, c. 2000 B.C. |
