ST58 A pointed Middle Palaeolithic handaxe from North Africa : £ 65

Orange-brown pointed Middle Palaeolithic handaxe, fashioned from indurated sandstone, measuring 116 mm/4.6 ins. in length. Rather crudely formed, but an inexpensive example. From North Africa.

ST59 A Small pointed Palaeolithic handaxe and a unifacially flaked lance point : £ 75 the pair

(i) Small subtriangular pointed Palaeolithic handaxe, made from dark reddish brown indurated sandstone, measuring 79 mm/3.1 ins. in length. Some wind polishing as is normal with desert finds. (ii) Unifacially flaked lance point, made from dark reddish-brown chert, measuring 75 mm/3 ins. in length, probably Upper Palaeolithic. Both from North Africa.

ST60 A Natufian ridge-backed flint knife, Mount Carmel area, Palestine, c. 9th Millennium B.C. : SOLD

A small ridge-backed knife in light brown flint, measuring 81 mm/3.2 ins. in length. Implement has a clearly pronounced blade with side ridge and a tang for affixing to a handle. Intact and in good condition, Natufian, from the Mt. Carmel area, Palestine, c. 9th Millennium B.C.

ST61 Two Neolithic flint axeheads from North Africa : £ 95 the pair

(i) Bifacially flaked Neolithic axehead, made from mottled dark brown flint, measuring 112 mm/4.4 ins. in length. Waisted profile mid-length and butt unworked. (ii) Bifacially flaked sub-rectangular Neolithic axehead, made from mottled light brown flint, measuring 105 mm/4.2 ins. in length. Both from North Africa and c. 4000 B.C.

ST62 Thin tabular Neolithic stone axehead from Morocco, c. 6000-4000 B.C. : £ 55

Thin tabular sub-rectangular Neolithic stone axehead, measuring 108 mm/4.3 ins. in length, the cutting edge ground with a few minor chips and the upper and lower surfaces unworked, some reworking close to the butt. Found in Morocco and dating to 6000 - 4000 B.C.

ST63 Two Neolithic scrapers from North Africa, c. 4000 B.C. : £ 45 the pair

(i) Neolithic side-scraper made from a thick blade of mottled brown chert, measuring 85 mm/3.5 ins. in length. A fine example of the type. (ii) Neolithic scraper, made from a thick flake of mottled light brown chert, measuring 64 mm/2.5 ins. in length. Both from North Africa and c. 4000 B.C.
