ST88 A Nordic Bronze Age axehammer, c. 1500 B.C. : £135A good-sized Nordic Bronze Age stone triangular axe-hammer, drilled for hafting, measuring 118 mm/4.6 ins. in length, the upper and lower surfaces of flattened form. Some blunting of the cutting edge, chips to the body and associated wear, Baltic States, c. 1500 B.C.ST89 A good-sized Nordic Bronze Age dolerite axe-hammer of unusual type, c. 1500 B.C. : £ 220A good-sized Nordic Bronze Age dolerite axe-hammer of unusual type, measuring 126 mm/5 ins. in length. The anterior of the axe-hammer is boat-shaped but the posterior extends to form a hammer of almost circular cross-section. Some blunting of the cutting edge and some inoffensive ancient chips to the body of the implement, but a nice example. Fragments measure from 65 mm/2.5 ins. to 78 mm/3 ins. in length, c. 2000 B.C.Ex Dr Basil Woodd Walker Collection formed before 1929.ST91 A group of four Neolithic flint blades and broken arrowheads : £ 45 the groupA group of four Neolithic flint blades and broken arrowheads, comprising two blade fragments (one with fine ripple flaking) and two broken arrowheads lacking tips. Flints measure 32 mm/1.3 ins. to 57 mm/2.3 ins. in length. All reputedly found in Derbyshire, England.An interesting study group.ST92 A greenstone axehead : £ 45A greenstone partially-polished axehead, the butt of rectangular cross-section and roughly chipped, measuring 130 mm /5 ins. in length. The cutting edge polished but the main body roughened. Provenance not known but possibly an ethnographic artefact.ST93 A greenstone axe : £ 65A greenstone partially-polished axehead, measuring 122 mm /5 ins. in length, with a gentle posterior taper. Some surface wear and some large chips towards the posterior on one side. Provenance not known but possibly from the New World.ST94 A group of three fine Neolithic arrowheads from Mali, c. 3000-5000 B.C. : £ 65 the group NEW!A group of three fine Neolithic arrowheads, including a brown flint leaf-shaped example, 34 mm/1.4 ins. in length, a black flint hollow-base arrowhead, 27 mm/1 in. in length, and a grey flint tranchet arrowhead, 19 mm/0.7 in. in length. Found near Goa, Sahara Desert, Mali, c. 3000-5000 B.C.Ex Peter Negus Collection.
A much finer group of these arrowheads than is normally offered.ST95 A large Middle Neolithic flint core from Spiennes, Belgium : £ 45A large Middle Neolithic white-patinated grey flint core measuring 180 mm/6.9 ins. in length. Some cortex remaining on one side, one relatively recent chip, otherwise condition good. Found near Camp a Cayaux, Spiennes, Mons District, Belgium, c. 3500 B.C. An inexpensive artifact from a renown flint mine site (bears an inventory no.
