PC1 A magnificent life-size stone mask from Teotihuacan, Mexico, c. 600 A.D. : £ 6450A magnificent Mexican stone mask, the oval eyes recessed for inlays, with broad nose, a wide mouth and parted lips sensitively carved. The mask measures 190 cm/7.5 ins. high and 170 mm/6.7 ins. wide, and is flat backed. The top of the head recessed and remains of a 'neck' for mounting. Chips to the ears, an inoffensive chip to the chin, otherwise condition good. From Teotihuacan, Mexico, c. 600 A.D.Known to have been on the London Art Market in the early 1950s and sold by the London dealer John Hewitt in March 1953 for the equivalent in today's money of £7500 - we are pleased to offer it for less.Such masks are thought to have been mounted on wooden armatures and then dressed with elaborate costumes to embody deified ancestors and gods.PC2 A Nazca polychrome pottery bridge-spouted vessel depicting a Nazca 'Pretty Lady’, Peru, c. 500-700 A.D. : SOLDA Nazca polychrome pottery bridge-spouted vessel depicting a classic Nazca 'Pretty Lady’ with a bulbous body, her hands held on her stomach, and wearing a cream-coloured cape decorated with two flaming feline heads. Vessel stands 110 mm/4.4 ins. high. Some small patches of minor wear, a small hole in the base but the decoration in excellent condition and intact. A very nice example of the type, from southern Peru, c. 500–700 A.D. Ex New York State private collection.Regretfully, we are unable to sell this item to American clients due to US import restrictions.PC3 A Late Nazca polychrome bowl, Peru, c. 600 A.D. : £ 350Late Nazca polychrome bowl, the painted design showing three ?lizard-like creatures painted in green, orange and cream against a white background. Bowl measures 184 mm/7.2 ins. in diameter and 60 mm/2.9 ins. in height. Repaired from two half pieces and some restoration to the rim, otherwise in good condition and a nice example of the type. Peru, c. 600 A.D.
Regretfully, we are unable to sell this item to American clients due to US import restrictions.PC4 A Moche hollow moulded red pottery figure, Peru, c. 400-700 A.D. : £ 185 NEW!A Moche hollow moulded red pottery figure, measuring 152 mm/5.9 ins. high. Figure wears a flat cap, a broad collar and an ankle-length one-piece garment, the hands holding a rope around the neck. Added white highlights the eyes, finger nails, bracelets, rope and fringe of garment. Some very minor surface wear, but an outstanding example of the type with an impressive stare, Peru, c. 400-700 A.D. Ex New York State private collection.
Regretfully, we are unable to sell this item to American clients due to US import restrictions.PC5 A Chancay twin-handled figural amphora, Peru, c. 1000-1450 A.D. : £ 485Chancay twin-handled amphora of rounded oval form with opposing lug handles and moulded neck. Vessel measuring 246 mm/9.7 ins. high and 183 mm/7.2 ins. across the handles. Shoulders decorated on either side with a figure of a monkey, the body painted with a stylised face on neck and bands of geometric ornament in umber on a white slip ground (rear). Some minor rubbing of the decoration, but otherwise condition good. Peru, c. 1000-1450 A.D. Supplied with a perspex stand.
