Figure measures 62 mm/2.3 ins. high. A chip to the nose, minor wear, some encrustation, otherwise condition good and a pleasing depiction. Figure has pierced eyes, a prominent nose, thick lips, a cap-like headdress, and wears earrings and a large beaded necklace. Chips to the headdress and to one ear, otherwise condition good. Cultural horizon: Panuco IV-VI, c. 400 - 800 A.D., from Veracruz, Mexico.Previously part of a collection auctioned by Pearsons of Winchester, Hampshire (UK) on 4-5 December 1972.PC27 A good-sized pottery kero from Tiahuanaco, Bolivia, c. 700 - 1200 A.D. : £ 245A good-sized orange terracotta kero from Tiahuanaco, Bolivia, measuring 153 mm/6.1 ins. high. Vessel has a flared rim, a horizontal band depicting crowned open-mouthed human heads and glyphs, moulded in relief, around the centre, and a band of painted brown and white linear decoration around the rim. Some minor inoffensive rim chips and some wear to the moulded relief, otherwise condition good, c. 700-1200 A.D.A pleasing example. Precolumbian Bolivian pottery appears rarely on the market.Regretfully, we are unable to sell this item to American clients due to US import restrictions.PC28 A Guerrero soapstone figure, Mexico, 500 B.C. - 300 A.D. : £ 285A Guerrero soapstone figure, measuring 156 mm/6.2 ins. in height, with horizontal incised slit eyes and mouth, the arms held across the torso, with two horizontal bands beneath. Some minor chips and inoffensive wear, particularly to the reverse, otherwise condition good. From Guerrero, Mexico, 500 B.C. - 300 A.D.PC29 A Chancay twin-handled pottery flask, Peru, c. 1000 - 1400 A.D. : £ 185A Chancay twin-handled pottery flask, measuring 178 mm/7 ins. in height, the neck and shoulder decorated with brown bands and linear and dotted decoration, a brown band around the lower body and crossed lines and dots on the base, all on a cream slip. One handle damaged, some small chips to the rim, minor wear and localised discolouration of the slip, otherwise condition good.
